On November 30, 1925, Antoni Gaudí witnessed the completion of the first of the eighteen towers he had designed for the temple.

The tower of Bernabé rose for the first time before the eyes of the architect and the people. Gaudí knew that he alone would not be able to complete this temple, and for this reason he left one tower built, so that people might witness the grandeur of the project and his disciples might carry it forward.

With this event, on the one hand, we sought to commemorate this highly significant historical moment: the completion of the only tower that Gaudí saw finished in his lifetime, a symbol of the tangible beginning of a dream shared across generations, which will culminate in the raising of the central tower dedicated to Jesus. On the other hand, we sought to pay tribute to the architect who conceived of a project capable of uniting art, engineering, and nature into a unique architectural language with a universal vocation. A work that invites us to contemplate the profound connection between beauty and the sacred.

One of the most significant moments of the event was the reading of a manifesto highlighting the tribute to Gaudí and the symbolism of the occasion. The event also featured an informative lecture designed to deepen understanding and awareness of the construction process of the Tower of Bernabé.

The lecture was delivered by Dr Jordi Faulí, Director Architect and coordinator of the works of the Basilica of the Sagrada Família, and Dr Chiara Curti, architect and specialist in Gaudí’s work.
